So this is a little late in coming I know, but for Memorial Day, we took the girls over to the Field of Heroes that has all the casualties of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We went and tied yellow ribbons around all Joe's friends' crosses that were killed in the conflicts and also his brother Nathan's cross. It was great being able to explain to the girls what all the crosses represented and then be able to come home and show them pictures of the guys whose names were on each one. I'm sure at their ages, they didn't totally understand, but the seed has been planted.
